The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has committed $500 million over the next decade to fund scholarships for community college students pursuing degrees in healthcare, technology, and skilled trades. The initiative aims to support 200,000 students who might otherwise be unable to complete their programs.
The scholarships will cover tuition, fees, textbooks, and provide a stipend for living expenses. Eligibility is targeted at students with household incomes below $60,000 who maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and are enrolled at least half-time.
