The University of California system announced a major expansion of its guaranteed admission pathways for California community college transfer students. Beginning with the fall 2027 cycle, students who complete designated transfer curricula with a 3.0 GPA will receive guaranteed admission to at least one UC campus.

The expanded program adds UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara to the list of participating campuses, which previously included only UC Merced, UC Riverside, and UC Santa Cruz. Officials estimate that an additional 12,000 students per year will benefit from the broader guarantee.

Community college advisors across the state are updating their course planning guides to align with the new transfer pathways. The UC system is also investing in peer mentoring programs to support transfer students during their transition.
