A new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics reveals that employer demand for cybersecurity professionals continues to outstrip the supply of qualified graduates by a ratio of three to one, creating exceptional career prospects for students in the field.
The median starting salary for cybersecurity graduates has risen to $82,000, up 12 percent from two years ago. Positions in cloud security, incident response, and AI-driven threat detection command the highest premiums.
Universities are responding by expanding enrollment in cybersecurity programs, but faculty shortages remain a bottleneck. The report recommends greater investment in apprenticeship models and industry-academic partnerships to close the talent gap.
