A coalition of 18 state university systems announced today the expansion of guaranteed admission pathways for community college students who complete associate degrees with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

The initiative, called the National Transfer Promise, ensures seamless credit transfer and priority enrollment in high-demand majors including nursing, engineering, and computer science. Participating systems span from California to New York and serve over 3 million students collectively.

Community college advocates have long pushed for such agreements, citing research showing that transfer students perform as well as or better than native four-year students once they arrive on campus.
